Bonalu Special – Celebrating Culture, Learning and Togetherness
Hosted By - Super Strikers
The Sunday Meet brought together culture, learning, creativity, and togetherness through a special celebration centred on Bonalu, one of Telangana’s prominent festivals dedicated to Goddess Mahakali. Celebrated during Ashada Masam, Bonalu is traditionally associated with thanksgiving and offerings to the Mother Goddess. The festival also features cultural traditions such as Bonam, Ghatam, Thottelu, Rangam, and Pothuraju.
The occasion was also celebrated as Ethnic Day, with participants coming together in traditional attire, creating an atmosphere that reflected Telangana’s cultural identity and diversity.
The session began with opening prayers, self introduction and personal research presentations on subjects including Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, financial applications of AI, and NotebookLM. This was followed by a detailed exploration of the history, significance, traditions, and practices associated with Bonalu.
The cultural learning continued through a Bonalu-themed drawing competition, where participants creatively depicted elements such as the Bonam pot and Pothuraju. Interactive riddles, a Bonalu quiz, and experience sharing added energy to the session while encouraging participants to learn from one another’s knowledge and personal experiences of the festival.
A special aspect of the meet was the opportunity to understand how traditions are experienced across different communities and families. The discussions encouraged participants to look beyond simply celebrating a festival and to understand the stories, values, and meaning behind the traditions.
The session also featured inspiring addresses by Dakshinamurthy Sir and Sahadev Sir, offering reflections on success, happiness, simplicity, personal growth, and purposeful living.
The meet concluded with appreciation for the participants, closing prayers, a group photograph, and a shared lunch that brought everyone together.
The Bonalu Special Meet demonstrated that cultural celebrations can become meaningful learning experiences when people take the time to understand their roots, share their traditions, and learn from one another.
Celebrate the culture. Understand the tradition. Carry the values forward.
