State Assembly Mock Parliament
Hosted By - Leading Legends
The State Assembly Mock Parliament, organized by the Leading Legends Team, was designed as a practical learning platform to help students understand legislative processes while developing research, analytical thinking, public speaking, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
The inaugural session provided participants with an opportunity to experience the functioning of a State Assembly in a realistic and structured environment. Delegates demonstrated impressive preparation, presenting well-researched arguments, factual evidence, numerical data, and relevant references during the proceedings.
To create an authentic legislative setting, a coalition government was formed with the support of independent MLAs. The independent members retained the freedom to make their own decisions, ensuring that every debate and vote carried genuine significance.
For the first edition, the NEP Implementation in Telangana Bill was selected. The bill consisted of 10 clauses, with each clause being debated by the Ruling and Opposition benches through evidence-based discussions.
Key features of the proceedings included:
- 10-clause legislative bill focused on NEP implementation in Telangana
- Detailed debates between the Ruling and Opposition benches
- Formation of a coalition government with independent MLAs
- Use of parliamentary mechanisms such as Party Whip and Division Voting
- 3 out of 10 clauses were approved
- The bill ultimately lapsed after failing to secure the required majority
However, the success of the Mock Parliament was not measured by the final outcome of the bill. Its real achievement was the preparation, participation, collaboration, discipline, and informed debate demonstrated by the students.
The session created a meaningful platform for young minds to experience democratic processes beyond textbooks and develop the confidence to engage with real-world issues. It was a strong demonstration of how experiential learning can turn knowledge into understanding and participation into leadership.
Where learning goes beyond outcomes, the process itself becomes the achievement.
