Visit to Nehru Zoological Park

“A journey well shared is a journey well enjoyed”.

Our 1st outdoor activity was so much fun. We, the leaders of Soham Leadership Program, went on a trip to the Nehru Zoological Park with a total of 44 members on 3rd October 2021. With much energy and enthusiasm, we woke up early in the morning, did our works as per schedule and reached our pick-up point – MCH ground at 08:00 in the morning. We started our journey at 8:30 AM with delightful slokas in the bus. The energy of all the leaders reflected in their smiling faces. During the journey, we sang songs and had fun. Finally, we reached our destination “Nehru Zoological Park”.

Everyone went inside the park in a queue. As soon as we entered the park we searched for a place and had a small discussion about the instructions and schedule, after which we had a group photo with all the leaders. Then, we started moving around the park to see the animals.

In the very beginning, we saw Tortoise. Every animal has its own history, so there were leaders who shared interesting facts about a couple of animals that we saw.

Did you know that elephants can sense even a fly on their body ? So sensitive.. Then we went to the Butterfly Park.  There were butterflies elegantly fluttering around among the beautiful plants. That was an idyllic garden. We captured some photos there.

We continued walking and seeing animals. We were very happy to see those animals. It was the first visit to Zoo for some of us while a handful of us have been there before. Now or previously, the grandeur of the zoo is ever compelling. We got to know many wonderful and unknown facts about the animals. We kept walking and learnt about the different species. What fun is a picnic without a luncheon! We found a park under the blessed shade of trees to sit. The sunny day had taken its toll on all of us. Famished, we slumped onto the green grass and let cool water quench our thirst. We had our weekly meeting while we waited for the lunch to arrive.

We discussed about the animals and had an educational discussion on book reading as always, from Sahadev sir.

The food arrived at the right time and all the leaders devoured the toothsome lunch. The Biryani was delectable and the sweet dish added divinity to the lunch.

Post-lunch, we had a very funny mimicry of actions by one of our seniors. A healthy discussion between the leaders of SLP batch 2020 and 2021 progressed. The juniors posed questions to the seniors, who answered them well to guide us. We came to know about the different activities they had in their SLP (2020) journey. Our seniors’ journey was quite exhilarating. At the end of the discussion, our dearest Sahadev Sir added about the journey of the senior SLP and declared our new 21 days walking challenge.

After the meeting all of us gained sufficient energy to play a game in the park. The game consisted of 2 teams, each of which included 15 members. It was called “Kerchief Snatch”. We had so much fun in the game. It was a very pleasing way to bond with our seniors. We resumed our walk to finish seeing the rest of the Park. All the leaders were resembling the different kinds of colorful birds that we saw earlier, wearing bright smiles and attires. We captured our individual team photos and a group photo in the end.

We were walking back to the parking area where our bus was parked and were cheerfully planning on what songs to sing, little did we know that the wheel of the bus was stuck in the muddy grass!
As a crane was called to solve the problem, it was a wholesome educational experience in the sunset and hide & seek!
After an hour of continuous struggle and deploying alternatives, the bus was finally ready to depart.

Everyone was on the same energy level and had fun while returning back in the bus, singing ‘dil pasand’ songs.A breath-taking view of sunset on the Musi river bestowed upon us.A beautiful day with so much enthusiasm started from the dawn with an elegant sunrise and ended happily with all the memories and the glory of sunset. These memories will always be cherished.
Thank you God for giving us one more blessed day 🙂
