On 12th September 2021, an outstanding opportunity was provided by SLP-2021-22 which was to interact with Sri Narsanna Koppula sir, a pioneer in Permaculture field. Using tree Based Farming Systems (TBFS), he created miraculous results under Tribal Devlopment Program. His commitment towards sustainable livelihood was clearly portrayed in his speech. A true embodiment of nature in its best form, Narsanna sir founded a non-profit organization, “Aranya Agriculture Alternatives” along with Ms.Padmavathi Koppula garu.All our leaders received exceptional knowledge from him and made sure to understand the importance of sustainability towards a greener planet. SLP shows great gratitude to Sir for standing as an inspiration to many, and for an enriching interaction that was carried forward.

Sir is a permaculture pioneer in India. A lover of nature and environment, he was among the first Indians trained by Bill Mollison in the 1980s. With his mentor, Dr. Venkat, who has been his constant source of inspiration, they created the first permaculture farms in India and formed Permaculture Farmers Group across the country.
Sir is a designer and professional guide in ‘efficient water use techniques in command irrigation’. He is actively engaged in implementing Tree Based Farming Systems (TBFS) and planting 100,000 fruit plants and 3 lakh mixed forest species on 1000 tribal families’ lands under Tribal Development Program. He is a project evaluator for various natural resource management projects and networks with several national and international organizations.
Narsanna sir is committed to ecological and sustainable agricultural livelihoods through permaculture farming practices to create a greener planet. He believes the forest is the future and he spreads his message through non-profit organization, founded by him and Ms.Padmavathi Koppula garu – “Aranya Agricultural Alternatives” presently operating in the rural and tribal areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Aranya which has impacted thousands of farmers locally , also educating many permaculture enthusiasts throughout the globe to become permaculture designers and practitioners. Aranya, has hosted the International Permaculture Convergence, the biggest event on the permaculture calendar globally. This event has guided and inspired more than 1,000 participants from over 100 countries and also gave a significant impetus to the permaculture movement in India and around the world.
