Book review-To Kill a Mocking Bird

Book Review: Satish from Team Pravaah

Book Title: To Kill a Mocking Bird

Author: Harper Lee

Published on  July 11, 1960 is one of the best books. By reading this book I started getting interested in this novel by understanding its symbolic meaning and the depth of its themes. Then I realized that every letter in this book is placed with a purpose and cherished its developed characters. It’s a story that revolves around siblings – Scout and Jem, and their lives.

The book gives unexpected shapes while describing the lives of siblings who live with their single parent who is their father, Atticus and caretaker Calpurnia. The author uses the emotions – struggle, hatred and fear during that time of history.

There is a person named Boo Radley in this book who plays the lead role. It’s about a girl Jem Louis, fondly known as Scout, an eleven year old. She is curious about the society in the American countryside like Alabama where she discovered the upheaval between the whites and the blacks, and experiences her age of changes along with her elder brother James and friendly Dill and especially with her father, Atticus Finch, the man who stood by the blacks for the right to undo the wrong.

This book teaches us what Atticus told his children – before judging anyone, look at the world from the perspective of the man.  That is, on seeing the world standing in the man’s shoes, your outlook will change. This novel describes how they fought against racism.
