This book is written by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles, who were curious to know about what makes
Okinawa’s live a long and happy life. They found out that a person can discover his / her IKIGAI and the secret
of life which is a mixture of 4 things –
- What you love
- What you are good at
- What you can be paid for
- What the world needs
This book taught me to love little things in life and also most importantly find the purpose of your life to be
happy at all times. All the wise people believe that if you have a good diet and proper sleep which is
sufficient for your body, and keep your mind and body busy, you will always be happy and healthy.
The 5 main lessons I started to implement in my life are –
- Not to worry.
- Cultivating good habits.
- Being positive
- Living a relaxed yet powerful life.
- Creating new bonds and nurturing old friendships.
In this book, we also get to know that Yoga is a powerful tool and everyone has access to it. They mentioned
types of Yoga such as Jnana yoga, Karma yoga, Hatha yoga, Bhakti yoga and many more. The process and the
the power of Surya Namaskara was also amazingly written. To improve brain and organ functioning, they practise
greeting the 5 elements of nature which are mentioned in the book.
Last but not the least, the 10 rules of Ikigai is the soul of the book, which I felt is very informative and also it would be great if we all could follow it.

- Take it slow.
- Don’t fill your stomach.
- Make good friends.
- Get in shape for your next birthday.
- Smile.
- Reconnect with nature.
- Give thanks.
- Live in the moment.
- Follow your Ikigai.
